Cost of living

Prepare your budget well before you embark on your educational journey. After all, you don't want to starve during the last year of school.

We are trying to give you a general idea of how much it will cost you to study and live in America for a year. Please note that depending on the area you live, your lifestyle, and many other factors, your total spending may vary from our estimates.

Application fees: $50 - $75 per school.
Academic entrance examinations (e.g., SAT, TOEFL): $100 - $200 per exam. Most students will have to take at least two tests.
Tuition and fees: $5,000 - $30,000 per academic year (9 months).
Books and study materials: $500 - $1,000 per academic year.
On-campus room and board: $3,000 - $7,500 per academic year.
Off-campus room and board: $3,000 - $9,000 per academic year.
Meal (for off-campus students): $2,500 - $3,000 per academic year.
Clothing: $500 or more.
Health insurance : $400 - $600 a year for a person and $2,500 - $3,500 for a family.
Personal expenses: about $2,000 a year.

Other Possible Expenses

Family member: approx. $5,000 per additional member.
Auto: approx. $4,000 - $5,000 a year.
Summer vacation: any where between $30 - $75 a day.
