Why do I need to get a medical examination?
Medical expenses in the U.S. are very high in comparison to other countries. By getting a medical (as well as dental and optical) examination before leaving your country, you can save a lot of money both on the doctor visit and any prescription medications, glasses, or contact lenses you may need.

• Your school will need your medical records before you register for classes. If you don't have a copy of your records in English, you may have to get a medical examination in the U.S., and that can be very expensive.
• American hospitals can help you more efficiently if you have a medical record in English.
• You may need to supply your medical records when you apply for a student visa or pass through U.S. customs.
• Your health insurance company may ask you to submit your medical records.
