Visits to the doctor can be very expensive in America.
Save money, time, and trouble. See a doctor before you leave your home country. America may have more to it than just capitalism, but you'd never know it looking at medical bills.
While your visa application (Step 12) is being processed,
you should take care of a couple of other matters. The first of these is a medical examination.
Youve got to have medical records, in English, for your school, and any prescriptions you
need will be less expensive in your country.
When should I take this step?
Three (3) to two months before school starts.
Why do I need to get a medical examination?
Medical expenses in the U.S. are very high in comparison to other countries.
By getting a medical (as well as dental and optical) examination before leaving
your country, you can save a lot of money both on the doctor visit and any
prescription medications, glasses, or contact lenses you may need.
Apart from saving money, here are other reasons for getting a medical examination
before leaving for America:
Your school will need your medical records before you register for classes. If you don't have a copy of your records in English, you may have to get a medical examination in the U.S., and that can be very expensive.
American hospitals can help you more efficiently if you have a medical record in English.
You may need to supply your medical records when you apply for a student visa or pass through U.S. customs.
Your health insurance company may ask you to submit your medical records.
