hi, I believe, your work experience in India will mostly not determine your admission to any US univ. Admission is based more on your test scores and SOP quality than anything else. Although your exp will definitely help you gain any RAs (Research Assistantships), TAs, or part-time on campus job opps once you have gained admission. As for after graduation, your India exp will definitely place you at a better position than your non-exp peers. Even if your work and studies are in different fields, in US it is advisable that you include your work exp in your resume.
